In addition to “American Pie,” McLean is also known for “Vincent (Starry Starry Night)”, “Crying” , “And I Love You So”, and “Castles in
the Air”. He first began hitting the charts in 1971 and has accumulated over 40 gold and platinum records worldwide. He was inducted into the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame in 2004. With a musical career spanning over 50 years, legendary singer-songwriter Don McLean has made many contributions to the music industry, including his magnum opus “American Pie,” one of the RIAA’s Top 5 Songs of the 20th Century. “American Pie” has brought great happiness and hope to millions of people through the years and continues to be honored for its success. In 2002, the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. A New York native, Don McLean has established himself as one of the most revered and respected songwriters in American history, having influenced such artists like Garth Brooks and Ed Sheeran, who cite Don McLean’s songwriting as the finest in the art form. Over the years, his songs have been sung and recorded by the likes of Elvis Presley, Garth Brooks, Madonna, Fred Astaire, George Michael, and Ed Sheeran. The 21st Century has seen a number of new honors for Don McLean and his music. 2017 brought a huge honor when “American Pie” was inducted into the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry, joining less than 500 works including “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” classical music compositions, infamous live broadcasts and similar recordings. With a number of hits and decades of music under his belt, McLean continues to tour both North America, Europe and other international destinations, bringing a mix of his classic hits with an array of new works. Don’s newest album, “Botanical Gardens” was released in 2018 via BMG Music to critical acclaim.
