Lobster Rolls, hand dipped ice cream and BBQ Sundaes added to the menu!

The Orange County Fair Food Drive Thru kicks off its second and final weekend Thursday October 1st with some amazing new food choices.  In addition to the traditional sausage and pepper sandwiches, funnel cakes, corn dogs, cotton candy and gyros, the fair is adding some new foods with a gourmet twist.

New to the drive thru’s lineup is a seafood stand featuring Lobster Rolls, Lobster Mac N Cheese, Seafood Nachos and Popcorn Shrimp.  The stand is the brainchild of local chef Austin Flores, a Culinary Institute of America graduate who has worked most recently at the Ritz Carlton in Hawaii.   Flores has always been a great fan of fairs, festivals and outdoor events so he returned to the Hudson Valley to open a catering business.  “I love having the ability to put my own twist on the foods offered at a festival”, Flores enthused.  “You don’t typically see lobster rolls or seafood nachos at an event but I used my training and background to bring those items to events like the Orange County Fair Drive Thru”, he added.

This is Flores’ third stand at the event, he also provides Mexican foods including street corn and empanadas and he is  adding gourmet hand dipped ice cream under his Victory ice Cream label.

Dave’s Devil Dog’s a local BBQ favorite is also adding a new item, the BBQ Sundae,

featuring a cornbread base, pulled pork, cole slaw, mac n’ cheese, baked beans, brisket and topped with a BBQ drizzle.  The unusual sundae was developed exclusively for the Orange County Fair Food Drive Thru.

Other new items on the menu for the final weekend include Mac n’ Cheese topped French Fries, meatball subs, chicken wings. And for dessert, Fried Peanut Butter and Jelly, cake pops, and candy coated marshmallows.

The Orange County Fair Food Drive Thru is open Thursday through Sunday, October 1 – 4 at the fairgrounds in Middletown.  The Drive Thru is completely free to enter and drivers are given a menu and map upon arriving on the fairgrounds.

For those wanting to stay and enjoy the food on grounds, a limited number of socially distanced parking spaces can be purchased
